The History Of Toys In Japan (Seadoco)

You have probably seen one of those weird "Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed" videos on YouTube or some other video sharing site, but do you know the story behind the channel that created them?

Introduction

Those videos were created by the YouTube user Toys In Japan. The user uploaded his first video on January 4th, 2015, it was a video of him playing with toys for almost three minutes. The video received a lot of dislikes and the user quickly moved on to making two-dimensional, computer-animated videos with songs such as "Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed", he would make a "template" for those videos and he would simply swap one image for another to make a new one. Some time later, he would cease making 2D animations and move on to 3D. It seems like the models used in the 3D animations were downloaded from the Internet. The videos featured an unrealistic jumping animation that was reused in every single one of his "Five Little Monkeys" videos.

The videos gradually started getting more and more bizzare, as if they were intended to be parodies, and not something made with serious intent, and that's probably because that's what they might have actaully been intended to be. In the early days of his channel, Toys In Japan would take video requests from viewers and he would often pick the most bizzare ones. It started with computer game and movie characters and then went to famous people like PewDiePie, Donald Trump, or Adolf Hitler.

On July 25th, 2016, PewDiePie, the most subscribed YouTube user who was also featured in some of Toys In Japan's videos uploaded a video of himself where he watched the animations and reacted to them, along with H3-H3-Productions, another popular YouTube creator. At the time of writing this, the video has gained almost 8 million views.

Fortnite & Name Change

About 6 months after he uploaded his last animation for kids, a new video was uploaded to his channel. Shortly after, the channel changed its name to Seadoco; it's worth noting that the channel's URL has been /u/Seadoco for years, and even PewDiePie himself discussed it in his video.

Video Deletion

Toys In Japan deleted all of his videos in early 2019 for unknown reasons. Some have speculated that this was caused by the fact that around that time YouTube introduced new community guidelines and Seadoco simply feared that YouTube would terminate his channel; however, those are just speculations and are not confirmed to be true.

Hello My Friend

On April 30th, 2019, about a year after the videos were deleted, Toys In Japan (now known as Seadoco) uploaded a video titled "Hello My Friend", it was a digitally produced song accompanied by an animation. The video received a couple hundred of dislikes shortly after it was uploaded. A few months later, Seadoco went back to uploading videos of him plaing Fortnite with a face cam. At the time of writing this, he's still somewhat active and uploads a new Fortnite video every few weeks.

Lost videos

Although many of his videos have been archived by other YouTube users, some seem to have been lost. One such lost video would be the "Toy The Train" video; It was heavily inspired by another video for kids about "Bob The Train" singing the alphabet song, and while the original song was sung by someone with a clear voice and a proper American accent, Seadoco's version of it was sung in broken English and many words were mispronounced.

Another lost video is the "Transformer Car" one, which was an even cheaper recreation of this already cheap-looking 3D animation. In the video, an anthropomorphic bus finds a car that's "feeling strange" and takes it to a car repair shop, the mechanic inspects the car and says "I think you're OK, but you are a transformer" in a thick Asian (Japanese?) accent.
